Our promise

We earn nothing from your charging.

Many charging apps belong to a charge point operator or a charge card provider, and others get a commission for every charge they send your way. That is allowed. It does mean the app has an interest in where and how you charge. WATTWEG has no such interest. We only make money when trip planning or the subscription check is worth enough to you to buy Plus.

  1. 01No commission and no ads. No provider can buy a place in the list.
  2. 02Plus never changes the order. The best option is the same for everyone.
  3. 03A card you don’t have never ranks above one you can use right now.
  4. 04If the app ever starts charging sessions itself, any commission will be shown openly and the order will stay the same.

Three moments

For the moments when charging gets expensive.

Most people charge at home and only use public chargers now and then. That is exactly when you lack the overview: unfamiliar charger, unfamiliar network, and the bill arrives afterwards.

At the charger · free

The full price, line by line.

Set how full you want the battery. WATTWEG shows what the charge costs with each of your cards and with a bank card at the terminal, including start, time and idle fees. You can open every price and check the sums.

  • What you can use right now comes first.
  • How to start: bank card, QR code or your app.

While you charge · free

A heads-up before it gets expensive.

Many operators charge an idle fee after a few hours, usually per minute. WATTWEG knows the charger’s rule and reminds you to unplug in time. With Plus, the countdown runs as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen.

On a trip · first trip free

Three plans for every trip.

Enter your destination and battery level and get the cheapest plan, the fastest and the best balance. For every stop you see your arrival charge, how long you charge, what it costs and what you can do in the meantime.

Subscription check · Plus

Do I need a subscription?

Tariffs with a monthly fee only pay off above a certain amount of charging. The subscription check takes your real charging sessions or an estimate, includes the minimum term and tells you the amount at which a subscription starts to pay. Often the answer is no: your bank card and your free app are enough.

With €5.99 a month€71.88 fees + €92.40 energy

No, it doesn’t pay off for you. With a subscription you would pay about €47 more a year. On this network it only pays off from about 600 kWh a year.

How we calculate

Every price shows where it comes from.

Since April 2025, charge point operators in the EU have had to report their prices for charging without a contract to national data portals. This open data is our main source. We research charge card tariffs ourselves.

  1. A

    At the charger

The operator’s price for paying by bank card, credit card or QR code. It comes from the official data portals, such as Mobilithek in Germany and NDW in the Netherlands.

  2. B

    Fixed-price tariff

Charge cards and apps with a flat or tiered price. We read the providers’ price lists and store the source, location and date with every price.

  3. C

    Formula tariff

Common in the Netherlands: a mark-up on the charger price. We apply the formula to the reported price.

  4. D

Price only in the provider’s app

Some providers publish their prices nowhere. We say so and show a range at most, for orientation.

Get involved

An open tariff catalogue for everyone.

Charge card tariffs are not available in any open dataset yet. We therefore want to publish our catalogue under a free licence (CC BY 4.0 is planned), so consumer groups, researchers and other apps can use it too. If you spot a wrong price, send it to us with a photo or screenshot. Providers can supply their tariffs directly, but they get no preferential treatment for it.

Countries

Where WATTWEG knows the prices.

How well we cover a country depends on how completely operators report their prices. We show this openly, here and in the app.

Share of fast charge points from 50 kW with an openly reported price
CountryCoverageNote
DEGermany about half We fill gaps with researched tariffs, for example in the north.
NLNetherlands 96 % Very complete data from the national portal NDW.
FIFinland 92 % Measured by fast charging connectors.
DKDenmark partly One large network with prices, more to follow.
BEBelgium partly Some networks with prices.
SESweden locations Charging locations and prices from major providers in our catalogue.
NONorway locations Charging locations and prices from major providers in our catalogue.

Our own measurement using the open data portals on 24 October 2026. The figures change as operators report more or less. Austria, Switzerland and France will follow once the data allows it.

Questions

What people often ask.

Do I need an account?

No. WATTWEG works without signing in. Your cards, your car and your charging history stay on your iPhone.

How do you make money?

Only with WATTWEG Plus. We get no commission from operators or charge card providers, show no ads and sell no data.

Where do the prices come from?

Prices for charging without a contract come from the official data portals that operators in the EU have to report to. We take charge card tariffs from the providers’ price lists. Every source is listed on the Sources and licences page.

What if a price is missing or wrong?

Then you see “price unknown”, or how old the price is. Use “Report price” to send us the error. The price the charger or the provider’s app shows before you start is always the one that counts.

Do I need a charge card or a subscription?

If you mostly charge at home, often not. Since April 2024 every public charger in the EU has to allow charging without a contract, and new fast chargers from 50 kW also have to accept bank cards. Whether a subscription still pays off for you is what the subscription check works out.

Does it work with my car?

The app knows the charging power and consumption of more than 30 common models, and you can adjust your own consumption. You enter the battery level yourself. There is no connection to the car.

Can I pay or start a charge in the app?

No. WATTWEG shows you how to start and opens the right app if needed. You pay the operator or your provider. That is how we stay independent.

Is WATTWEG available for Android or CarPlay?

At launch WATTWEG is for iPhone with iOS 17 or later. We plan to apply to Apple for CarPlay after version 1.0. There is no plan for Android yet.

Before you plug in next time.

WATTWEG is coming to the App Store soon. Until then, this page explains how we calculate and where our data comes from.
